Multicoloured patchwork wool cape, one-of-a-kind custom-made piece

This generously flared winter cape features wide sleeves, a longer back and discreet pockets set into the side seams. It is fully lined.

Every cape is an individual textile composition.

The making process begins with the selection of numerous wool, velvet and patterned fabrics in a similar weight in different colours and textures. Each fabric is cut into strips, sorted and individually positioned to create a balanced colour gradient across the entire garment.

This composition work is an essential part of the design process. Colours need to flow naturally into one another, prints must find their place, and the overall balance has to work across the front, back and sleeves.

The capes shown in the photographs have already been sold. They are previous versions of this design and illustrate its overall spirit.

Your cape will therefore never be an exact copy of one of them. It will be created especially for you using the fabrics available at the time of your order. Colours, prints and individual details will vary while retaining the multicoloured character and distinctive gradient composition of the design.

The high collar can be worn standing up or folded down.

The front closes with deliberately mismatched buttons; every other button is decorative.

Each cape is designed, patterned, cut and made in the MALAM workshop in France as a one-of-a-kind piece.
