Sweaters, Cardis & wraps

The Sweaters, Cardigans and Wraps category brings together original knit and layering pieces designed by MALAM and crafted in France. Part of the MALAM designer clothing collection, it ranges from easy-to-layer everyday pieces to much more distinctive silhouettes.

The collection includes short and longer sweaters, cape sweaters, asymmetric tunic sweaters, blouson-style sweatshirts, short and long cardigans and wrap styles. Some designs have simple straight or relaxed lines, while others explore volume through puffed or gathered sleeves, oversized hoods, roll or scarf necklines, asymmetric hems and tailcoat-inspired shapes.

Fabric, color and texture give these pieces very different personalities. Fine and chunky knits, jersey, cotton, wool, velvet, lace, lurex, mesh and openwork textiles may be used alone or combined within the same design. Some pieces remain understated, while others play more strongly with stripes, prints, transparency, contrast and mixed fabrics.

Wrap designs have a particular place in the collection. Selected styles can be tied and worn in several different ways, allowing the proportions and layering of the garment to change depending on the outfit, while other versions use a simpler wrap construction.

Depending on the design, pieces may be in stock in a specific size and ready to ship, made to order in your size, or available as customizable or custom-made styles, with options such as fabric, color or selected details when the design allows.

Sweaters, cardigans and wraps pair naturally with original dresses from the collection, MALAM skirts or women’s unique trousers and shorts. Lightweight knits work well between seasons, while thicker and more enveloping fabrics make other styles particularly suited to colder weather.

Selected pieces can also complement original wedding and occasion outfits, either layered over a dress or worn as a more individual alternative to a conventional jacket.

For customizable designs, the MALAM fabric and jersey library allows customers to explore available materials and choose fabrics suited to the cut and intended use of the garment.

Each design is developed in the MALAM workshop in France, with pattern cutting, prototyping, cutting and small-scale artisanal construction forming part of the making process. Produced as one-of-a-kind pieces, small batches or limited quantities, MALAM sweaters, cardigans and wraps combine comfort, distinctive volumes and textile combinations away from standardized ready-to-wear.
