MALAM is a French independent womenswear and accessories label created by Marie Remise. The collections are made and designed in MALAM's workshop boutique in La Charité-sur-Loire, Burgundy, France.
MALAM collections have never been in line with the rhythm of standardised seasonal collections, creating one-of-a-kind pieces, small runs and made-to-order designs, with a strong focus on fabrics, details and unexpected combinations.
MALAM's preference goes to fabrics with character: velvet, checks, lace, prints, wool, vintage finds and materials available only in small quantities. A few metres of an unusual fabric can become the starting point for a piece that will never be made in exactly the same way again.
MALAM collections play with cuts, volume, layering, asymmetry and details. The idea is not to mass-produce sensible clothes, but to create distinctive pieces that get noticed and stay in your wardrobe.
Many designs can also be made to measure or personalised. Depending on the piece, you may be able to choose from different fabrics, colours or options, or have the design made to your individual measurements.
All MALAM creations are made in France in the MALAM workshop in La Charité-sur-Loire. Occasionally, part of the sewing may be entrusted to a local independent seamstress.
The workshop is also a boutique, where you can discover the collections, try on available pieces and see the place where MALAM designs are imagined and made.
MALAM is independent fashion made in small quantities, with plenty of fabric, a few sewing machines and very little desire to make exactly the same thing twice.
